When standard is not enough

Thermal equipment and systems from Freiberg

Mission and vision

We see sustainability as a technical design task. We design and implement equipment and systems for recycling, reuse, and circular processes  especially where new processes are emerging and no established standards yet exist.

A key focus is on the planning and implementation of test and pilot plants. These form the basis for research, process development, and the targeted optimization of processes with regard to efficiency and resource conservation. At the same time, they create the conditions for safe and reliable scaling.

Our strength lies in the development of customized solutions for complex tasks – from the initial test facility to industrial-scale application. Thanks to our in-depth engineering expertise, practical implementation, and clear responsibilities, we create plants that enable innovation, push technological boundaries, and reliably transfer sustainable processes into operation.

Our team at the site

At our site in Freiberg, Saxony, we combine engineering, manufacturing, and quality management under one roof. Our production hall offers the infrastructure to efficiently and precisely implement both pilot and industrial plants.

Our team consists of 26 dedicated employees—interdisciplinary engineers, designers, welding and manufacturing specialists. Their experience, technical expertise, and close collaboration enable us to successfully implement even complex projects.

Short communication channels, direct coordination, and a high degree of vertical integration enable quick decisions, flexibility, and consistent quality assurance across all project phases.

Company development

Emerged in 1997 from the the sample workshops of the German Fuel Institute in Freiberg, TAF Thermische Apparate Freiberg GmbH has developed into a recognized partner for research and industry based on its in-depth expertise.

From 2006 to 2011, TAF was a subsidiary of the CHOREN Group in Freiberg and operated under the name CHOREN Components GmbH for a time.
